Viva Las Vegas 2010

Well this year we didn't just attend the car show, we entered Andy's truck in the car show. This was a whole new way to experience Viva Las Vegas. We had our own tent, chairs and cooler and that was really nice to have a place to land.

Andy's truck was very popular. We considered charging for every time we got asked the question "What are those wheels off of?" His truck is uniquely and ingeniously engineered and drew a lot of attention.

The Viva Las Vegas web page said cars could leave starting at 5 PM. At 5:40, we pulled out and headed to the exit. The security guards and police officers said we couldn't leave until 8 PM which baffled us since that wasn't what we signed up for. Andy got out of the truck and was making our case to every police officer and security guard in sight. He talked to the head of security for the Orleans and anyone who would listen. Apparently, the Orleans had some insurance policy agreement that wouldn't allow for the cars to be moving out of the show while there were still pedestrians viewing the show. We had already driven through a sea of pedestrians to get to where we were! Meanwhile, a whole crew of drunk guys gathered around our truck saying they wanted out too. They said "If they won't let you guys drive out, we'll push you out." One of them went over to the gate and pushed it open and a bunch of them started pushing the truck with me inside! The security and police were ready to arrest every single person, including me. It was such a stressful situation. Andy told them they were violating our personal rights and holding us against our will. They finally gave in and let us leave the dang place! I don't think we'll be going to Viva Las Vegas next year.

It was delicious as usual. This is Andy's sage fried chicken Benedict. It was INCREDIBLE. I ordered a snickers pancake the size of China.

It was a fun weekend to enjoy family and friends.
