Baby Update & The Best & Worst of Bed Rest

The latest on the baby is that I am being induced on Sunday, July 11. We are so excited to finally know approximately when our little girl is arriving. We'll keep you posted.

This pregnancy has been quite the journey! I was put on bed rest May 11 and will be induced July 11. Two months of this is ENOUGH! These are the best and the worst things about being on bed rest:

BEST

Watching Regis & Kelly

Making Lists all day long

Not having to Cook

Visitors!

Visitors who bring treats like this:

Naps after lunch

Being pampered by Andy

The Food Network - I'm obsessed!

Getting sweet cards like this in the mail:

WORST

Wearing Compression Socks

Sore hip flexers

Not being able to Cook

Watching my house get dirty and not being able to do a thing about it.

Not being able to exercise and move for that matter!

This cute girl came over and did some pregnancy photos of me here at the casa. I love how they turned out.

Nursery Mobile & Details

We had a glitch with our original plan of paper cranes so we improvised and made this little bird mobile instead. I love how it turned out.

And I found this on Etsy and added it to the nursery as well.

My Zone

Andy built me this awesome stand so I can manage to work a little while on bed rest. It swivels and adjusts in every direction imaginable. It's amazing.

And those darling tulips were sent to me from my awesome parents!

I am loving this lightweight, wireless wonder as well. I can set it on my lap and type away - it's honestly feather light.

All these little luxuries make each day that much easier!

The Shower

Four of my friends, Keri Mecham, Jen Burt, Dezaree Chesnut and Teresa Williams, gave me a shower in Cedar City. When my doctor put me on bed rest, one of the first things I asked him was "Can I still go to my shower if I lay down the entire time?" He consented. Yipee.

Because it was the most delightful shower. Complete with delicious food.

And a darling project. Each girl decorated a onesie with fabric markers and then hung it on the "clothes line". They each turned out so cute - I loved it!

The lovely ladies who came:

These girls really went above and beyond. Every detail was absolutely delicious and darling. I feel so blessed to have such sweet and classy friends.

We got so many wonderful things - lot's of very functional items that we needed.

THANKS EVERYONE.

Baby Funderburk

We had the 30 week ultra sound today and she is looking cuter than ever! I love her profile and her eyes are so precious. She was chewing on her hand or sucking her thumb at one point - it was cute. The ultra sound tech noticed a little hair. Everything is going well but we can't wait to get our little baby here!

Bed Rest

Yes, I am on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy. Here's the story if you want the details:

At my last prenatal appointment, my blood pressure was high. The doctor said it could be preeclampsia which would mean bed rest. This really shocked and stressed me out. So the doctor sent me to the hospital to Labor & Delivery for testing. They hooked me up to the non-stress test, continued to take my blood pressure, and took blood and urine samples. After about three hours in the hospital (I was a wreck), they determined everything looked fine and that I didn't have preeclampsia ("yet", I thought). But they did want me to collect my urine for 24 hours. So, I did and a few days later they notified me that my urine had slightly elevated levels of protein so they wanted me to come in for more testing. They took my blood pressure and it was fine. They hooked me up to the non-stress test and the baby's heart rate and oxygen intake was good. They did a ultrasound and the amniotic fluid was good. But, they said the protein in my urine was at 308 and at 300 they worry. Preeclampsia is a serious medical condition affecting all organs of the body, For example, preeclampsia causes stress on the kidneys, which results in increased amounts of protein in the urine. So, my doctor said he was putting me on bed rest for 7 weeks and would induce me at 37 weeks (which will be around July 1). He said he'll give me steroids as it gets closer to make sure the baby's lungs are developed. Essentially, I have mild preeclampsia and we're trying to manage it and keep it mild by staying horizontal. This should reduce mental and physical stress and help blood flow to my organs. The only cure for preeclampsia is having the baby.

It's been almost 1 week - 6 more to go! Because of the way things went down, it really gave me time to adjust to the idea of bed rest and I felt very prepared for it. I am so relieved the nursery is done and I feel ready for the baby. I'm excited she's coming early. 37 weeks is considered full-term. Fortunately, I can work from home a couple of hours a day (while laying down). That and visitors help keep me sane. Thanks to those of you who have brought meals and come to visit.

So glad I have these blooms to brighten my days. This hyacinth smells so amazing.

Always looking for something to keep me busy, I added this little flower detail to a onesie.

Nursery Reveal

The nursery is finally done and ready to reveal! It has been the most fun to create this little haven for our baby girl.

THE CRIB

We made our own crib bedding and I am really happy with how it turned out.

THE FEEDING, READING, RELAXING NOOK

This is where I will be able to kick back in the nursery.

THE WALL ART

Andy painted this Japanese cherry blossom branch that extends across the wall. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I was going to do some type of vinyl design but this is way better than I could have ever hoped for. It adds just the right touch of whimsy to the room.

THE CHANGING STATION

THE CLOSET

Complete with hamper and storage.

THE RUG

I really love the rug - it ties it all together.

There are just a few minor details we still need:
1. A mobile to go above the crib. One of my beehives is in the processing of making 2o paper cranes that I want to make a mobile out of.

2. Let's be honest, Baby Funderburk needs a few more items in her wardrobe.

3. And of course, our healthy baby girl to make this space her own.
